练 习 十
Directions:: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write a composition on the topic Practice Makes Perfect. You should write at least 120 words and you should base your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:
1. 怎样理解“熟能生巧”?
2. 例如:在英语学习中……
3. 又如……
参考文章:
①The famous saying that practice makes perfect is very philosophical and hence universally accepted. ②It means that practice helps us to be proficient - the more we practice, the more skillful we will be. ③In other words, only through constant practice can we perform something perfectly.
④Many examples can be cited to illustrate the saying. ⑤A case in point is the study of English. If we are to improve our pronunciation, we must practice pronouncing every sound again and again. If we want to spell words correctly, we should review them time and time again. And practice also enables us to become fluent in speaking and writing. Only through constant practice can we build up the "feel for the language."
⑥Another case in point is cooking. A good cook can prepare a delicious meal. But we will not be surprised at his performance if we know how much time he has spent practicing. Through practice, he becomes an expert in cooking.
⑦Therefore, it goes without saying that practice makes perfect. ⑧Since we have realized the essence of the saying, we should bear it in mind as a motto for a lifetime and put it into practice.
