练 习 八
Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write a composition about Bicycle – An Important Means of Transport in China. You should base your composition on the following outline:
1. 为什么自行车在中国这样普及
2. 和汽车的比较
3. 自行车在中国的前途
Your composition should be no less than 120 words.
参考文章:
①Among various means of transport, bicycles play an important part in the lives of many Chinese. ②There are many factors that may account for the reason why bicycles are so popular in China, but in general, they come down to two major ones. For one thing, ③few average Chinese families can afford private cars. For another, ④buses and other public means of transport are often very crowded.
⑤Compared to cars, bicycles have some unmatchable advantages. First, ⑥a car cannot move without petrol while a bicycle only needs human energy. Second, ⑦unlike a car, a bicycle needs only a small place to park. Most important of all, ⑧a bicycle, which does not give off poisonous gas as a car does, is a pollution-free transport.
From the above discussion, ⑨I believe bicycles will still be the most popular means of transport in China for a long time since China is a developing country with a large population.
