[00:01.39]Up to You 快乐还是痛苦,有你来定
[00:05.32]Jerry was the kind of guy who was always in a good mood
[00:09.83]and always had something positive to say.
[00:12.55]One day I went up to Jerry and asked him,
[00:15.40]"I don’t get it! You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"
[00:21.65]Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself,
[00:26.24]‘Jerry, you have two choices today.
[00:29.00]You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.’
[00:33.91]I choose to be in a good mood. "
[00:36.21]"Yeah, right, it’s not that easy," I protested.
[00:40.50]"Yes it is," Jerry said. "Life is all about choices.
[00:44.65]You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood.
[00:50.04]You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. It’s your choice how you live life."
[00:55.93]I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I changed my job. We lost touch.
[01:02.62]Several years later, I heard that Jerry was robbed and was shot.
[01:06.92]I saw Jerry about six months after the accident.
[01:10.41]When I asked him how he was, he replied, "I feel really good.”
[01:14.89]I asked him what had gone through his mind when he was taken to the hospital.
[01:19.40]Jerry replied, “The first thing came to my mind was that I should have closed the back door.
[01:25.62]Then I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die.
[01:32.09]I chose to live. ”
[01:34.17]Jerry continued, "The nurses kept telling me I was going to be fine.
[01:38.78]But when they wheeled me into the emergency room
[01:41.85]and the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses scared me.
[01:45.81]In their eyes, I read, ‘He’s a dead man. ‘I knew I needed to take action."
[01:51.82]"What did you do?" I asked.
[01:53.89]"Well, a nurse asked if I was allergic to anything," said Jerry,
[01:58.61]"‘Yes,’ I replied. The doctors and nurses were waiting for my reply...
[02:04.08]I took a deep breath and yelled, ‘Bullets!’ Over their laughter, I told them,
[02:09.80]‘I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."
[02:15.83]Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors,
[02:19.10]but also because of his amazing attitude.
[02:22.16]I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live positively.
