伊朗2009年全国离婚率是结婚率的两倍
The rate of divorce in Iran has grown from 2 percent in 2004 to 13 percent in 2009, which is 8 times of world’s average level。
The latest figures published by the Statistics and Registration Administration in Iran indicate that the divorce rate throughout the country has been twice as much as marriage rate. They also show that marriage in cities had a negative growth while it enjoyed a positive rate of 11.8 percent in rural areas。
Various parameters have been mentioned in the Administration report as the reasons for the youth’s reluctance to marry. Contrary to the public belief, the report added, and according to a poll conducted among the youth, cultural rather than economic concerns are the main obstacle。
Also, 20.1 percent of the respondents believed that they were still too young to marry and 16.5 percent of them mentioned that they preferred to continue their higher education. Economic concerns rank third among the reasons why the youth are reluctant to marry。
Meanwhile, 45 percent of divorces are among the couples who knew each other at work or at educational centers before marriage. Parents’ disagreement with a couple’s marriage prior to their wedding has been mentioned as another main reason for their divorce。
The report concluded that cultural reasons are the main factors in delayed marriages and in the growth rate in divorce。
