A Korean woman was stopped at a security checkpoint at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on Saturday after customs officers spotted a bottle of liquid in her luggage.
The passenger was asked to open her bag for inspection, but when the security worker wasn’t looking, she quickly opened the bottle and hid its contents in her mouth.
However, she failed to fool the officials. Seeing that the container was empty, the security worker noticed that the woman was acting strangely. She was told to spit out the liquid, and three live tadpoles came out with it.
The woman admitted that the tadpoles were a gift from her Chinese friend and she didn’t want to lose them.
She reluctantly gave up the tadpoles after the customs officers reminded her that trafficking wildlife is prohibited.
