Master Kong Artificial Seafood Flavor Instant Noodle
康师傅鲜虾鱼板面

Far and few between are the Master Kong varieties I find in the US. This is one of them I got a couple months ago – a real surprise. I don’t know why so many of them aren’t available in the US; I’m guessing possibly that many of their products contain chicken or beef, and import of chicken or beef into the United States from Asia is very hard if not impossible. Luckily, fish products are generally accepted for import quite easily and here we are. Let’s check out this  Master Kong Seafood instant noodle!
我发现在美国很少有康师傅方便面。这是几个月前我拿到的康师傅方便面中的一包——真正的惊喜。我不知道为什么那么多康师傅方便面在美国买不到;我猜可能是因为康师傅的许多产品里含有鸡肉或牛肉,而从亚洲往美国进口鸡肉或牛肉非常难。幸运的是,鱼类产品一般很容易进口,所以就有了这个品种。我们来看一下这种康师傅鲜虾鱼板面。

Here’s the back of the package. While these products don’t have instructions on how to cook them, I generally do the same thing with all of them. Add noodle block and sachet contents to 500ml boiling water. Cook for 3 minutes and enjoy!

Added narutomaki, kamaboko, prawns, sweet onion and mung bean sprouts. The noodles have a familiar gauge and chew – not very thick and not very chewy, but all the same decent. The broth has a nice seafood flavor leaning mostly towards the prawn end of the stick. The broth has a decent richness and slight oiliness which is just right. The dehydrated vegetables were alright. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
加入鸣门卷、鱼糕、对虾、甜洋葱以及绿豆芽。面条的口感很熟悉——既不太粗也不是很难嚼,依然很美味。面汤的海鲜味很不错,主要是虾的味道。面汤香味浓郁,稍微有点儿滑腻,这样刚刚好。脱水蔬菜也可以。5分满分的话,可以给3.75分。
Sichuan Baijia Artificial Pickled Cabbage Fish Flavor Instant Vermicelli
康师傅酸菜鱼味方便粉丝

I’ve been checking out a few of these Baijia varieties recently, and they’ve been interesting. When I first started reviewing, I generally found the flavors and varieties to be pretty horrid, but after a few years, I’m starting to come around. Pickled cabbage and fish, eh? Well, let’s have a look.
我最近在尝试白家系列的几款方便面,他们都很有意思。通常我第一次试吃的时候,我发现口味和品种都很糟糕。然而,几年后,我开始接受酸菜鱼味面,嗯?好吧,我们一起看一看。

The back of the package. To prepare, add package contents to a bowl. Add 500ml boiling water and cover for 5-6 minutes. Stir and enjoy!
包装的背面。先准备一个碗,放入面块和调料。加入500ml开水,焖5-6分钟。搅拌一下就可以开动了!

Added spring onion. The vermicelli hydrated well – I cut twice with kitchen scissors to make it more manageable with a fork. They’re a little slimy but have a nice gauge and feel to them. The broth on the other hand wasn’t really my thing. Although spicy, the ‘pickled’ aspect was just a bit too acidic. 1.5 out of 5.0 stars.
加点葱。粉条含水度良好——我用厨房剪刀把粉丝剪了两下,使其更便于用叉子食用。酸菜鱼味面有点黏滑,但口感很好。但是,我不太喜欢面汤。虽然辣,但“酸菜”方面实在有点太酸了。5分满分的话,可以给1.5分。

Here’s one that was donated by a reader from Sweden! Thanks! You really can’t find any Master Kong noodles here in the United States which is a real bummer. They’re really good – hopefully they’ll be here at some point. What’s tough about Master Kong packs is that they don’t seem to say how much water to add in. For a pack this size, I’ve gone with 500ml before, so I’ll go with 500ml again.

Here’s the back of the package. Looks to contain chicken. To prepare, add noodle block and vegetable sachet to 500ml boiling water and cook for 4 minutes. Add in remaining sachet contents and stir. Enjoy!
这是包装的背面。注意里面有鸡肉。煮的时候,先加入面块和蔬菜包,冲入500ml开水,然后煮4分钟。加入剩余调料包并搅拌。开动吧!

Added grilled chicken, sweet onion and bell pepper. The noodles aren’t very chewy – they’re very soft. Not to say that’s bad – they really work well in this context. They suck up the broth, which is decently thick and has a warm, cozy chicken flavor. There is a kind of off taste that’s meandering in the background though. The vegetables and chicken are very nice and have a good taste. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.
加入烧鸡、甜洋葱以及灯笼椒。面条不是很难嚼,很柔软。不是说那不好——这样的面真的很不错。喝汤的时候,面条很好地吸收了肉汤,稠度适中,而且有新鲜、可口的鸡肉香味。虽然隐隐弥漫着一点怪味,蔬菜和鸡肉还是很好的,而且味道也很不错。5分满分的话,可以给3.5分。
