研究显示 全球烟民人数已破10亿
Despite a significant worldwide drop in smoking rates, there were still about 933 million daily smokers around the world in 2015, according to a study published in The Lancet.

The researchers looked at data on smokers in 195 countries and territories between 1990 and 2015, and found that the daily smoking rates in men fell from 35% in 1990 to 25% in 2015, while the rates in women dropped from 8% in 1990 to 5% in 2015.

"Robust tobacco control efforts have led to progress in reducing the deadly habit of smoking, but much more can be done," said senior author Dr. Emmanuela Gakidou, Professor of Global Health at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Over 80% of the daily smokers in 2015 were men. Worldwide, 1 in 4 men smoked every day, compared with 1 in 20 women, according to the study.

In 2015, more than half of the male smokers in the world lived in China, India and Indonesia, while over one-quarter of the female smokers worldwide were in the US, China and India, the researchers found.

More than 11% of deaths worldwide were due to smoking in 2015, the study found, and over half of these deaths occurred in China, India, the US and Russia.
