Nasdaq Opening Bell Rung at Ceremony in China

2007-04-05来源:恒星英语网

The Nasdaq stock market's opening bell was rung remotely from Beijing on Tuesday at 9.30 pm Beijing time. In attendance were the president and CEO of the Nasdaq, Bob Greifeld, along with the US ambassador to China and representatives from Chinese companies listed on the electronic stock market.

Greifeld said the ceremony meant a lot to both NASDAQ and China.

"It represents really two things: one, that NASDAQ has been truly the home of innovative, entrepreneurial companies over the last 36 years. And it also represents the fact that China has stepped forward on the world stage".

The bell-ringing ceremony was broadcast live on Nasdaq's seven storey building overlooking Times Square in New York. The US market lists a total of 40 Chinese-listed companies from a variety of industries.
