Here's some good news for explorers, trekkers, photographers and arm chair travelers: the new and long awaited Insider's Guide to Lhasa is coming out on May 25th in bookstores and shops in Beijing. So on today's program, I'll be speaking with Chris Buckley, Tibetan arts expert and contributor to the guidebook. He first traveled to Lhasa over ten years ago and has been returning to the Holy City ever since. His interest and expertise in traditional Tibetan handicrafts eventually led him to write a book about Tibetan Furniture and to start a business selling high-end Tibetan carpets in China. So I sat down with Chris Buckley (on some carpets I might add) at Torana Gallery, his shop in Beijing to talk about everything Tibetan, from history to food and of course carpets.
