CRI听力：Here Come the Danes

Danish vocalist Maria Kohnke released her first solo album Collector earlier this year. A collection of beautiful and melancholy songs that you wouldn't think to call pop. Critics have praised her sound as "heavenly brightness & resonating darkness."

Kohnke is playing in Beijing this Saturday night, August 4th at 2 Kolegas. She's accompanied by Emil de Waal, Denmark's top drummer also known as the "Drum King of Scandinavia." The two gave a special performance earlier this week at the Gibson showroom in Beijing along with DJ Wordy. I caught up with Kohnke and de Waal after the show to talk about the new album.
