2007-09-09来源:和谐英语

The World Economic Forum has come to a close on Saturday in the Chinese coastal city of Dalian. Six open sessions at the forum have even more diversified topics. Our reporter Ou Yangqian files the report.

Reporter:

Two of the six open sessions are devoted to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the intellectual property rights protection in the country.

China is putting every effort into making the Olympics to showcase its openness at the international stage. The Games will create new business opportunities as well as pose unexpected challenges to the host country.

Atos Origin is one of the sponsors of the Beijing Olympics. The French company's CEO believes that the momentum of China's economic growth will not stop after the Games.

"Today China is well known to be a manufacturing center. I believe one of the main benefits of the Games is that it will help accelerate the development of service sectors. With strong manufacturing entities, and with the fast development of services, I believe in next 5 years, we will see the development of technology companies."

Chinese companies are paying more attention to the intellectual property rights protection. Xiao Zhiguo, CEO of Luming Science & Technology Group, has this to say.

"Intellectual property rights are the pathway to fast development and success. Thanks to the IPR protection, our company has become a leader in this industry and we can talk with international big companies like Philip and GE on equal footing."

The Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions -- from Davos to Dalian, known as the "Summer Davos", has discussed such major issues as the global commercial environment, China's economic development and the going-out of Chinese enterprises.
More than 1,500 political figures, businessmen, scholars and media representatives from more than 80 countries and regions have attended the meeting.
