CRI听力:Premier Wen Jiabao Underlines Education
Today, September the 10th marks China's Teachers' Day. On the eve of the country's 23rd Teachers' Day, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has visited Beijing Normal University, where he underlined the importance of education.
At the colloquium with students and staff, Premier Wen says China always treats education as important, especially the education of future teachers.
He says teaching is not only about education, but also closely related to the country's future.
''Education is the most sublime undertaking of the mankind and teacher is the most glary vocation under the sun.''
Premier Wen also spoke highly of the free education policy for normal major students, under which tuition fees are exempt at six universities since this classes resumed this month.
He says the practice is expected to make society pay more respect to educators and their work. It also encourages young people to devote themselves to education.
Premier Wen also wants to see education development in rural areas so that every child can go to school. He says the doors of universities should be open to everyone including children from poor families.
Wen Jiabao also encouraged the normal major students from underdeveloped regions of the country to serve their hometowns after graduation to cultivate more children.
