Delegates to the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China have arrived in Beijing as the CPC finalizes its preparations for its five-yearly conference which starts on Monday. CRI reporter Zhao Yang has more.

Reporter:

With colorful Tibetan costumes and ornaments, the delegates from the Tibet Autonomous Region landed at the Beijing Capital International Airport on Friday with excitements. They are the first delegation arrived in Beijing.

"I'm a teacher delegates from Tibet. I attend the congress to represent our local educational workers. I will report to the congress about education situation in Tibet. " This year, nearly 11 percent of delegates are ethnic minorities. Among the 55 minority groups in China, most of them have their own delegates.

"I'm delegate from the Dong Minority. I hope the nation to pay more attention to the west region, to Guizhou province for example, and to the education there." Till Friday afternoon, a dozen of delegations have arrived in Beijing. Around 2,200 delegates, representing more than 73 million Party members, are expected to attend the conference. Many of the delegates are ordinary people from all walks of life. A peasant delegate from central China's Henan province is eager to talk about their new life in recent years.

"With the favorable policies towards our peasants and the rural regions, we've received great benefits. Our income has increased quite a lot. I'd like to talk about our happy life at this congress." Delegates have great expectation towards the coming congress as it will draw the blueprint for China's social and economic development in the next five years. At the same time, they also feel they bear heavy responsibilities. Many have done thorough researches and have listened voices from the people before coming to Beijing.
