2007-12-13来源:和谐英语

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi says Beijing and Washington should properly address new issues emerging in bilateral business ties, turn difficulties and challenges into opportunities for cooperation and develop China-U.S. business ties in both depth and width.

Wu Yi made the remarks at the latest Sino-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue, also known as SED.

The Vice Premier states Beijing has not sought large trade surpluses, and says the US could boost sales to China by relaxing restrictions on high-tech exports.

"China's door is wide open to American products. The sticking point is in the American political restrictions. America has chosen, itself, to limit what it exports to China. I hope that the US could have a new outlook on this issue and think together in a more comfortable way. They could in this way increase the amount of high technology products that they export and decrease the trade imbalance."

Wu Yi reiterated Chinese concerns about the roughly 50 China-related trade bills introduced this year in Congress, indicating that China would be likely to retaliate if its interests were harmed.

The SED was launched by Chinese President Hu Jintao and U.S. President George W. Bush in September last year.

Before this round of the Dialogue, China and the United States have signed a package of deals including the Memorandum of Agreement on Food and Feed Safety and the Agreement on the Safety of Drugs and Medical Devices
