CRI听力:Restoration of Roads underway in Sichuan
Workers are busy around the clock restoring damaged roads in southwest China's quake-hit Sichuan province.
State highway 213 is the most important roadway connecting Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, with the epicenter Wenchuan. It was severely damaged during the May 12th earthquake.
As the epicenter's life link to the outside world, the road is urgently needed for relief supplies to reach the disaster center.
Sun Yun is director of the Sichuan road and bridge cooperation effort and is directing the restoration work on highway 213.
"We've used directional explosives to blast the huge rocks off of the road and into the river. We are trying to open a roadway to Wenchuan on the rubble."(Www.hxen.net)
Sun Yun says both the equipment and workers are working all day long to open the road as soon as possible.
According to the State Council Information Office, 98 percent of the damaged roads in Sichuan Province have been restored so far after the earthquake.
