CRI听力:Be Alert to "Employed" Experts and Media Workers

2008-07-15来源:和谐英语

Officials from China's State Council recently pointed out that many real estate developers have employed experts and media workers to produce favorable reports for them.

For instance, one the one hand the developers were investing more as total volume of land developed increased one fourth during the first five months of the year.

On the other hand, some hired experts and media outlets were still urging the government to readjust its regulations to protect the real estate market, saying the government should not interfere in the real estate market.

An article in China Youth Daily says many real estate developers are taking advantage of current rules and regulations to make illegal profits. One way they are doing so is by influencing public opinion.

On the other hand, many experts and media commentators have been willing to serve these real estate developers for their own economic gains, the article said.

They have disregarded academic principles and standards. They no longer maintain an impartial attitude in their research, and they have ignored the law of economic development while making analyses.

As the article points out, these experts often can have great influence on government decision-making departments, based on their positions and reputations.

The article goes on to say a fair, open and healthy academic environment should be ensured. Decision makers should broaden the channels for more people to express their opinions. And decision makers should improve their own abilities to get comprehensive information and not merely follow what the experts say.
