2008-07-20来源:和谐英语

Nearly four hundred Chinese children, victims of the Sichuan-province earthquake, have started their days in an international summer camp in the Russian coastal city of Vladivostok.

According to the Russian side, they will devote much effort to helping these young kids restore the normal lives.

CRI Reporter Chen Xi brings you the story.(Www.hxen.net)

The first charter flight carrying 91 Chinese children from the disaster-stricken area has touched down in Russia. They are the first group to attend a special summer camp in the country.

For many of the children, it is their first time in Russia and they can not contain their excitement to start a new adventure in a new area.

Dong Ningbian, a little girl from Wenchuan county, the epicenter of the May 12 Sichuan earthquake, is among the first group.
"I am so excited, so happy. I like Russia and I do want to have a good time here."

Upon reaching a local children's center, the Russian tutors began entertaining the Chinese children by teaching them Russian tongue twisters, trying to heal the disaster trauma.

And this has, indeed, very much delighted the young Chinese visitors.

In addition, both local children and their visitors are divided into groups based upon their preference in hobbies, such as sewing, stimulant shooting and drawing.

They will also put on a joint concert, where a show will be staged for the local people.

Besides the various activities, the visiting Chinese children are not expected to arrange counseling with specific psychological doctors or attend relevant courses.

The center official gave the explanation.

"Our special arrangement is trying to let the Chinese children forget about the misfortunes that happened to them. Instead, we hope the days in Russia will leave them with a sweet memory of their Russian friends and joy."

Invited by the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, about 1,000 Chinese kids will be designated into 15 sanatoriums in 12 regions of Russia this year. Many of the resorts are in coastal areas.

Some 90 primary and middle school students from the quake-affected areas in China's Shaanxi Province have also arrived in the Russian city of Novosibirsk from the provincial capital Xi'an.
