CRI听力:Cambodia and Thailand Agree to advise troops not to have a confrontation any longer
The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia have met on the sidelines of the ASEM summit in Beijing to diffuse tension over a border dispute.
Cambodian Premier Hun Sen and Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat met each other on Friday for the first time since a gun battle between troops of the two neighbor countries earlier this month.
Thai Foreign Minister, Sompong Amornvivat, said the two sides agreed to advise their troops to stop the confrontation.(WWW.hxen.net)
"Excellency Hun Sen mentioned that the incident which has already happened is not the kind that both sides want. It happened instantly, which was uncontrollable at that time. But now, when the things have come to this point, we believe that two sides have to really advise our troops not to have a confrontation any longer."
The Cambodian foreign minister also said that problems between the two neighbors must be resolved.
"If there is any problem that happened between us, we have to solve it peacefully, amicably, for the sake of our neighborly relations."
The border spat between the two troops led to a gun battle near the 11th-century Preah Vihear temple, killing two Cambodians and wounding seven Thai troops.
