CRI听力:China Eyes Greater Global Market Share in Airline Industry
Incorporating some of the world's latest technology, the China-made aircraft and space modules displayed at the ongoing China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition has caught the eyes of the world. Experts say the airshow in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai is a good platform to showcase China's ability to compete in the world aviation and aerospace market. CRI's Zheng Chenguang reports.
Reporter:
With 35 participating nations, 600 aircraft manufacturers and 60 exhibiting aircrafts, the biennial Zhuhai air show this year is the largest its ever been.
As the host country, China has brought its own line-up of aircrafts and space modules to the show.
Amid all that China is showcasing at the show, the replica of the Shenzhou 7 orbiter and returning capsule have become one of its most eye-catching exhibits. It enables visitors to have a clear idea of the astronauts' living environment in space.
Jia Ke is with the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. He says an interactive platform has been established to showcase the country's most advanced products during the show.
"Our products cover aerospace systems, missile and weaponry systems and aerospace technology related industries. These are all of our latest products. We've put forward the concept of Space Rescue Teams in order to satisfy the needs of our national economy, especially in the fields of disaster prevention and reduction as well as emergent rescue missions."
Jia Ke adds the Space Rescue Team includes over a dozen positioning, communication and weather satellites, which play a vital role in China's disaster reduction efforts.
China's aircraft manufacturers are also expected to ink a few export agreements on the expo.
On the opening day of the show, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, or COMAC, signed a deal with GE Commercial Aviation Services of the United States. It's China's biggest aircraft export agreement.
Under the deal, COMAC will sell 25 ARJ21-700 regional jets to GE.
This is the first time Chinese-developed and manufactured regional jets have entered western airline markets.
Zhang Qingwei is COMAC Chairman.
"After spending 6 years researching the project, we have forged a talented team to develop China's civil airliners. We will build on the success of the ARJ 21 project and use our experience to further develop our trunk airliners."
Zhang Qingwei added the ARJ21 was developed independently by China. China provided the key technology for building the aircraft and obtained other parts from international suppliers.
The deal is valued at five billion yuan, or around 730 million U.S. dollars. (wwW.hxen.net)
A total of 206 ARJ21-700s have so far been ordered.
The company also plans to introduce trunk airliners to the market before 2020.
Aviation giants such as Boeing of the United States, Airbus of France, Bombardier of Canada, and Embraer of Brazil are present at the show, which runs from Tuesday to Sunday.
