CRI听力:Senior Citizens Proposed to Shunt Rush Hour
From the beginning of this year, Beijing residents above the age of 65 are allowed to take public buses for free.
The Beijing News printed joint letter from 50 local senior citizens who proposed what they believe is a useful piece of advice.(www.hXen.com)
They say despite the privilege, the elderly should try to avoid taking public tranpsortaion during rush hour.
The letter says the privilege of taking the bus for free indicates the government's care for elderly people who, in return, should have consideration for office workers, already stressed out by work pressures.
The letter said as retirees they are free and enjoy the benefits of a pension that increases every year, so wouldn't it be nice to leave the few bus seats available for those workers who still have to make the daily commute to the office or factory.
