CRI听力：FM Spokeswoman: China Concerns over Conflict in the Gaza Strip

China says it's actively promoting an end to the fighting in Gaza, and is ready to work with the international community to bring all parties concerned back to the negotiating table.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu made the statement at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

"China fully supports the efforts by the international community to alleviate tension in the Middle East and ease the humanitarian crisis in the area. We also support the mediation role Egypt has assumed in this issue with tight and positive results."

Visiting Chinese Special Envoy on the Middle East, Sun Bigan has held talks with relevant parties in the region, as part of China's efforts to broker a ceasefire. (www.hXen.com)

During his meeting with Israeli President Shimon Peres, the envoy proposed that Israel respond positively to the peacemaking efforts led by the international community.

He said China hopes Israel will quickly create the conditions for the Middle East peace process to get back on track and reach a resolution.
