CRI听力:Power Abuses to Blame, not Golf

A deputy to the People's Congress in South China's Guangdong province has recently commented that civil servants shouldn't play golf because the game, which is expensive to play in China, can be seen as a type of corruption.
The deputy's suggestion is to instead play other relatively cheaper sports like badminton.
The Beijing-based 'China Daily' has published an article, saying that playing badminton or golf is not a yardstick to judge whether a civil servant is corrupt or not.(www.hxen.net)
The author points out that as long as checks and balances are in place, it doesn't matter what kind of sports civil servants play.
The author notes that everyone has his or her own hobby or pastime and it's unfair to ban civil servants from having a swing with their own money. What should be banned is the abuse of political power, the article notes.
