CRI听力:National Human Rights Action Plan to Orchestrate Government Efforts
A senior Chinese official with the State Council says the government's new working plan on human rights shows it is working hard to promote people's rights.
Wang Chen head's the State Council's information office.
"The National Human Rights Action Plan is the first one taken by the central government specifically on human rights. It is a guide book telling us what to do to better protect our people's rights. It shows that we are determined to push forward with this. It will also raise the level of social awareness on the issue."(www.hXen.com)
On Monday, the State Council published a working plan on human rights work for the next two years.
It gives official directions to the nation's government departments on human rights related works.
The plan covers all major areas of human rights, as well as a full chapter, on strengthening international cooperation in this area.
The plan also stresses, China still gives top priority, to people's economic and development rights, and will try not to let the international financial crisis, get in its way.
