CRI听力:Provide Mental Intervention to Earthquake Victims as Soon as Possible
As the first anniversary of the May 12 earthquake across southwest China approaches, the country is preparing for various memorial activities.
The Beijing-based Worker's Daily published an article saying that the anniversary may bring memories of shock and grief to earthquake victims so related departments should give them psychological aid as soon as possible.
The article says that the sorrow of losing family members will not disappear in a short time. Victims are busy rebuilding their home and may have no time to mentally adjust themselves. The writer warns that their sorrow could break out on the anniversary of the quake. (www.hxen.net)
The article quotes Shi Zhanbiao, a psychological expert with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences as saying that government officials and teachers in earthquake-hit areas are experiencing greater pressure than other victims.
It suggests that psychological professionals provide effective and long time mental intervention to the survivors. Meanwhile, the author points out that uNPRofessional psychological service would result in deeper injury.
