CRI听力: Abducted Chinese Tourist Released in Southern Philippines
A gang of kidnappers in southern Philippines have released a Chinese tourist they kidnapped four days ago.
Jesus Sacdalan, governor of North Cotabato province, says the separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front or MILF has helped convince the kidnappers to free the hostage without ransom being paid.
Except for some bruises and mosquito bites, the victim, called Afen Ma Wu, is fine. (www.hXen.com)
An unnamed official from the joint ceasefire committee has been assisting the release of the hostage.
"Mayor, we will turn over Miss Wu, which (who) was turned over by the MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) to the joint ceasefire committee and we will be turning over her to you for further disposition Mayor."
Government officials and the rebels have pledged to work together to solve the kidnapping through the joint ceasefire committee. Two town mayors also helped persuade the kidnappers to free the victim.
The 24-year-old tourist from China's Fujian province was visiting relatives in North Cotabato when she was abducted on Wednesday by two gunmen.
