Anchor:
A middle school can be proud if it can claim that 99 out of its 109 students are enrolled in top senior high schools. Our reporter Zhang Wan has visited such a middle school in Suoxian County in northern Tibet, about a seven-hour drive from the capital Lhasa. Let's follow her to take a closer look at the school's formula for success—combining learning and entertainment in a multimedia classroom.

Reporter:
Having classes in the multimedia classrooms has become something very interesting for students.

One of the students, Gama Lazhen, says English is her favorite subject to study in the multimedia classroom.

"I like learning English the most. And I am happy to have our English class in the multimedia classroom. It helps a lot with improving our listening capability when learning English. We can listen to tapes and do conversations through the audio equipment."

Wang Yuanhu, director of the teaching administration office, also shows us the school's internet classroom.

"We have three buildings of classrooms. On the first floor you can see the multimedia classroom, audio classroom as well as the internet classroom. Each class has at least one lesson in the multimedia room each week. And teachers are expected to give at least two classes a week in the multimedia classrooms."

Teachers say they need more time to prepare for their lessons there.

Dang Jianhua is a teacher whose class has just ended.

"I usually search for information from the internet when I prepare lessons. Also I turn to our database for the necessary information. Most of my lessons are given in the multimedia classroom. Students do not yet have a broad horizon, so pictures and videos help them understand the text to some extent. Compared to learning by writing on a blackboard, students are much more enthusiastic about learning in the multimedia classroom."

Wang Yuanhu, director of the teaching administration office, says all the teachers at the school meet each weekend to share their teaching experiences.

"Every weekend, we have a special class in our school where teachers sit together to share their teaching experiences and discuss their ideas as well as the problems they encounter while teaching."

At the only middle school in Suoxian County, we see highly interactive multimedia classes that combine teaching and entertainment.
