CRI听力:Summer Davos Kicks Off in Dalian

The Annual Meeting of Summer Davos has started in China's northeastern port city of Dalian.

Attending the three-day discussions, also known as New Champions 2009, are more than a thousand world leaders and business elites hoping to find ways to "relaunch global growth".

Yunfeng has more.

Amid current economic situation worldwide, this year's Summer Davos is focusing on the theme of "Relaunching Growth."

Under the main theme of Relaunching Growth, there are five pillar topics: namely New Business Models in a Deleveraging World, Opportunities in a Green Economy, Rethinking Asia's Development Model, Driving Economic Growth through Science and Technology, and Addressing Social Needs through Innovation.
Christophe Weber is the Director and Chief Representative of World Economic Forum Beijing Office.

He says that the target of the meeting was to put the ideas together, making the global topics discussed and inspiring the participants.

"We knew that after this globalized financial crisis, the growth question will be on the agenda of every policy-makers and business leaders. But how do we go from here to the future. That's the big question we're asking."

Delegates from over 86 countries and regions will participate in the discussion with much to expect.

Antonie Simoes is from HSBC.

"I think it's very important to have debates in disappointing times. I would like to see coordination work across Europe US and Asia on this."

Jamie Drummond, Executive Director of British Organization ONE also expects to collect and exchange ideas with other participants.(www.hXen.com)

"We have got big global crisis, and that's gonna requires many creativity and management itself, and we got a very short space of time to solve it because the Copenhagen meeting in Denmark is in a few months. And this is a good moment to prepare for that.. And I'm also here to meet with people from different countries who are thinking along the same lines."

The forum features a variety of session types including plenary sessions, interactive sessions, Ideas Lab and Networking lunches to share insights, map issues and identify solutions among peers and important stakeholders.
