Russian ambassador to China Sergei Razov says the meeting will be meaningful for the development of cooperation between the two countries.

He predicts that the bilateral cooperation will expand to new areas based on previous achievements.

"China and Russia have signed important agreements on long-term oil cooperation and pipeline construction. The two countries are also faced with opportunities to conduct cooperation on natural gas supplies, electricity transmission and nuclear facilities."(www.hXen.com)

During the visit, Putin and Wen Jiabao will attend a ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Russia.

Reviewing bilateral relations over the past 60 years, Razov stressed the necessity of a cooperative Russia-China relationship.

"The strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Russia is based on political balance and mutual benefit. We should support each other on important issues. But our relationship is not against any other countries."

Razov hopes the two sides would continue to conduct exchanges and bring benefits to each other as well as the rest of the world.

"We both agree that Russia-China cooperation is in the fundamental interest of each nation. Moreover, our cooperative ties will contribute to international and regional peace and stability."

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said Russian and Chinese firms will sign more than 5.5-billion-U.S. dollars worth of deals during Putin's visit.

Zhukov says the two sides will continue their high-profile energy cooperation, including talks about collaboration in the coal industry.
