CRI听力: Information-Sharing Platform Established to Ensure Internet Security

2009-10-26来源:和谐英语

By launching the information-sharing platform, internet experts and technicians are attempting to get the message out to inform computer users to pay attention to certain software loopholes and take immediate precautions.

Yun Xiaochun is chief engineer at the national computer network emergency response centre.

"When research institutes find a loophole in the internet, they can inform internet users via this information-sharing platform. Then my centre will assign special experts and technicians to analyse the loophole and find a solution. After that, through the platform, we will tell internet users how to deal with the problem."

Internet experts say it's unavoidable that some software and certain web sites will have potential loopholes. Thus, the internet is always vulnerable to online viruses and hacker attacks.

Yun Xiaochun says the newly established platform has an important role to play in terms of reducing problems triggered by loopholes.

"In the combat against online loopholes, relying on a single organization or individuals is far from enough. Only when resources and information are combined onto the platform, can China make the internet as secure as possible."

In recent years, incidents of internet security breaches have been on the increase as China has developed into the world's largest user of the internet. For example, in May a loophole in a Chinese-made online media player paralysed many web sites across the country.

The anti-loopholes platform was initiated by the national computer network emergency response center. About 20 companies and research institutes have taken part in the project.
