CRI听力: Int'l Students Nowhere to Study as Private Colleges Collapse in Australia

2009-11-10来源:和谐英语

ACPET is the national industry association for private education institutions in Australia. It promised to deal with the issue in accordance with the tuition fee insurance plan. Under the plan, if a school collapses, the students will be offered a similar course in another institution, or be refunded their outstanding fees.

Australian Education Minister Julia Gillard promised on Monday that no students will be left without a plausible solution.

ACPET has emailed every affected student, asking them to attend an emergency meeting on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on which campus they study at. At the meeting, ACPET officials will discuss the solutions with students case by case. (www.hXen.com)

Actually, I've been in contact with some of the Chinese students who are very upset and anxious. Most of them still wish to continue their studies in Australia. So they are concerned about the upcoming meetings. Some students even say if the solution is not satisfactory, they will not rule out the possibility of some sort of protest, but that depends on how things go.
Since May this year, ten private colleges have been closed down across Australia, affecting thousands of international students. Most of them are from China and India.
