Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping has called for the expansion of economic cooperation between Asian and European countries to fight against the financial crisis at the 2009 Euro-Asia Economic Forum.

Reporter: Addressing the third Euro-Asia Economic Forum in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, Xi Jinping said the Euro-Asia region should work for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes with its advantage in abundant natural and human resources, long histories as well as great market potentials.

He said European and Asian countries should expand business and investment cooperation, mutually develop markets, facilitate free trade and guarantee the quality of their products.

He also encouraged the improvement of regional cooperation mechanism as well as bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation.

"We should support further tapping into each other's market, increasing investment in areas such as transport, communication and energy. Financial organizations should further provide services for large projects of cooperation. We should push for the establishment of a clean, economic, safe and reliable Euro-Asia energy cooperation system to sustain the growth of our economies."(www.hXen.com)

Arevik Gamletovna Petrosyan, deputy head of the Armenian parliament, spoke highly of the forum's role in promoting Euro-Asia cooperation.

"I believe this is a good opportunity for Europe and Asia to further develop and deepen economic and trade cooperation. We will expand cooperation with other countries, deepen our relations and carry out projects in our business cooperation."

The bi-annual Euro-Asia Economic Forum was launched in Xi'an in 2005. The city was named the permanent venue of the forum in April 2007.
