Chen Deming, Minister of Commerce of China, says trade between China and India is at its best stage.

"Through the efforts of both sides, we are delighted to see the economic relations between China and India developing in all aspects."

Chen Deming notes the two countries face more cooperation than competition.

"Cooperation also exists in our competition. The economic structures in both countries are complementary. India has its advantages in the fields of IT, pharmaceutical and the food-processing industries. On the other hand, China has its advantages in machinery and equipment industries. It gives us great room for cooperation."

Chen Deming also pointed out that China and India have set a new expert level coordination mechanism in a bid to solve the trade dispute between the two countries.

Sun Shihai, Director of South Asia Culture Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, gave some suggestions to solve trade disputes between China and India.

"China and India are experiencing a deep and uNPRecedented comprehensive cooperation. I believe there will be less misunderstanding and trade friction if the leaders of both countries hold regular meetings. So long as we keep all the mechanisms function and solve problems through negotiations, I'm optimistic on the development prospects of trade between our two countries."

Anand Sharma, Minister of Commerce & Industry of India, indicated there are more opportunities for the cooperation between China and India.

"When countries were fast slipping into depression, when major economies were in contraction and registering huge negative growths, China and India have acted as engines of the world economy. One issue which gets referred to the two trading partners, both the countries even in the backdrop over the worst economic crisis, a crisis which but for the coordinated efforts, governments across the world, particularly the emerging economies, would have been pushed into yet another great depression."

Sharma also hopes China and India will enhance mutual investment, deepen the cooperation in the fields of energy, agricultural and technology.
