Setting off fireworks is a definite part of the spring festival for Chinese. Among hundreds of categories of fireworks, you don't have to feel at a loss any more. Now you can find videos presenting the real blossom of those firework flowers online.

Chinese New Year is around the corner. Like Christmas to westerners, Spring Festival is the most important festivity for Chinese.

A local Beijinger Liu Lu says the routine programs for his family are making dumplings, setting firecrackers and watching TV gala.

Like his family, many celebrations following different customs are held to mark the day, among them setting off fireworks and firecrackers is a common way, because they are believed to be able to break the darkness and scare away demons and bad luck.

For many families, buying fireworks and firecrackers is what they have to do in the lead up to the festival, but among hundreds of fireworks, how can you pick up those worth the money you spend. Fireworks is different from other goods, you could know if you like it or not only by setting it off.

However, now "try before you buy" is also possible in buying fireworks. The website by Beijing Fireworks and Firecrackers Company provides hundreds of videos showing the real pictures of those blossom fireworks flowers.

"Consumers can only evaluate a firework by its wrapper, shape when they want to buy them, but they could never know the real effect until they set them off. That's why we put those videos presenting the real effect of fireworks on our webpage, we wish consumers get a clear idea of what their money are paid for."

Cheng says they have about 400 varieties of fireworks and firecrackers, and people can find 260 fireworks from their webpage with videos showing the real effect. Each category has a separate video presenting those stunning flowers with sound and light.

With that, people no longer have to spend their money without avail or try their luck when adding fun to their festivity, while the fireworks are not sold at a low price. Cheng explain:

"Prices of fireworks are quite different, some cost several hundreds yuan, from two hundreds to eight hundreds, some cheap firecrackers cost only about twenty."

"I don't think it make sense. I would not decide which fireworks I'd prefer to buy by watching its real effect online. Moreover, most of the fireworks buyers are senior people, they seldom turn to the internet."
