CRI听力: We Are the World--High-tech Interactive Experience at Shanghai Expo
At the Shanghai Expo Park, a performance with a high-tech interactive experience called "We Are the World," attracts many visitors at Houtan Square. It shows the relationships and communications of three families in Shanghai, Milan and Beijing.
The performance also showcase many advanced technologies that make life more convenient and environmentally-friendly, including 3D identification technologies and smart grids that cleverly use computer controlled electricity. Our reporter Zhang Cheng is there experiencing this high-tech interactive performance.
In comparison to the national pavilions with thousands of people snaking outside, Houtan Square at the Expo Park is much quieter with some unexpectedly interesting programs going on. "We are the world" is one of them.
When you enter the exhibition hall, you will watch a clip introducing a big family with its members in three different cities-Beijing, Shanghai and Milan.
After the video, our tour guide, Chris, took us to visit her brother Michael who lives in Shanghai.
Entering her brother's house, you don't need to have a key, just get 3D automatic face recognition and you can head into the house directly. It's safe and convenient.
We found that Michael has a white roadster. Actually, it's an electric car, which changes electric energy into kinetic energy.
Moreover, surplus electricity saved in the battery can be used for cooking and lighting.
After visiting Michael's house in Shanghai, Chris took us to visit her sister in Milan. A system which can detect the number of people at home caught our eyes. This system works on different sounds. Viewers are testing it right now.
Here are some visitors.
"It's very interesting to see future development."
"I've seen many new technologies here related to environment. Visiting here we can find how humans should match with the environment. If we can manage the power system correctly, we can save a lot of energy."
Huang Lijuan is the project manager of "We are the world." She explains where the inspiration comes from.
"Actually, the technology application is very complicated to explain. For ordinary audiences, computers and high technology are hard to understand. But this time, our target audience for the project is a younger group, so we have made the technology presentation a more simplified version. It's much easier for them to understand."
"We are the world" will be staged from 9:30 AM to 10:30PM each day during the Expo period from May 1 to October 31 at Houtan Square.
For CRI, I'm Zhang Cheng, in Shanghai.
