CRI听力:Serena Williams Wins Fourth Wimbledon Champion
In sports, world No. 1 Serena Williamns has successfully defended her title at Wimbledon. The American clinched an easy win over 21-seeded Russian Vera Zvonareva. CRI's London correspondent Tu Yun has more.
This is the sixth time Serena Williams has reached the Wimbledon women's singles final and the fourth time she has won the title. The victory is also her 13th Grand Slam singles championship.
"It means a lot because it is 13. I don't know where it rates. I mean, to have four Wimbledons is really, really exciting."
Williams beat Zvonareva in straight sets with the latter winning only 5 games in total.
It's the first time Zvonareva has played in a Gran Slam singles final. But the Russian is not satisfied with her own performance.
"I think I could have-not with the result but more the way I played-I could have done better. I did not show my best."
Maybe it's not a lucky day for the Russian. The women's singles runner-up suffered her second defeat of the day. She and compatriot Elena Vesnina lost the women's doubles final, beaten by Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova.
