CRI听力:CPC Meeting Ends with Blueprint for China's Future
Top leaders of the Communist Party of China have approved an all-round national development plan for the country in the next five years as they concluded a four-day meeting in Beijing.
As Damin reports, Chinese people have every reason to expect better living standards, according to the blueprint.
Several hundred senior party leaders participated in the CPC meeting, including President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.
The meeting examined and approved proposals for the development plan for 2011-2015. Vice President Xi Jinping was also appointed to the post of vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the CPC at the meeting.
At the close of the conference, the party issued a communique, calling for stronger efforts to improve people's livelihoods and complete a basic public service system for the population.
The communique promised to increase the share of personal income in the distribution of national income and that of work remuneration in primary distribution.
Meanwhile, the party vowed to strengthen the social security system covering both rural and urban regions, and speed up the pace of medical reform and development.
The communique also stressed that it's crucial for China to achieve major breakthroughs in economic restructuring and stable but relatively fast economic growth in the next five years.
It said that China should speed up efforts to build a resource-saving and environmentally-friendly society, and proactively combat global climate change.
Moreover, the party promised "vigorous yet steady" efforts to promote political restructuring in next five years, saying that reform is a powerful driving force for advancing the transformation of the economic development mode.
On the international front, the party's communique said that China will continue opening up to the outside world and accelerate its "going global" strategy.
In general, the communique stressed that the leadership of the CPC is the "fundamental guarantee" for China to achieve the goals of its economic and social development plan for the next five years.
