CRI听力: AFC Asian Cup - Day 3 Round-up

2011-01-12来源:和谐英语

The third day of matches in the Asain Cup was played out last night (Monday), and two of the tournament favourites were in action. For more on the Asian Cup in Qatar, here's CRI Sports' Paul Ryding.

Australia brushed aside minnows India four-nil in their opening game of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup last night.

As expected, the Socceroos relied heavily on Everton midfielder Tim Cahill as an attacking outlet, but he adopted the role with relish and got himself on the score sheet twice.

Harry Kewell and Brett Holman scored the other goals in a highly one-sided encounter.

In the other game of the night, South Korea secured a 2-1 victory against Bahrain courtesy of two goals either side of half-time from Ja-Cheol Koo.

South Korea's Kwak Tae-Hwi was dismissed with seven minutes on the clock after pulling back Abdulla Al Dakeel on the edge of the area.

Bahrain launched a late fightback when Faouzi Aaish netted the resulting spot kick on 85 minutes, but were unable to find an equaliser.

The two Asian powerhouses are now set to meet each other on Friday.

In tonight's matches North Korea face United Arab Emirates while there's sure to be a fiery atmosphere in the night's other match when defending champions Iraq take on Iran.
