CRI听力:Chinese Premier Arrives in Indonesia on Visit to Boost Ties, Conclude Visit in Malaysia

2011-04-29来源:和谐英语

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has now arrived in Jakarta for a two-day visit to Indonesia.

Indonesia is Wen Jiabao's second and last leg of his current southeast Asian tour.

During his official visit to Malaysia, Wen Jiaobao held talks with his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak, and has overseen the signing of a series of cooperation pacts between the two countries.

The Premier has also put forward a proposal to promote trade and cooperation between China and Malaysia.

"Both sides should fully use the preferential policy of China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, give full play to local comparative advantage, and enlarge the scale of import and export. We should further optimize the trade structure, strengthen the cooperation in mutual investment, infrastructure and finance, and promote the cooperation in the field of education and science and technology."

Malaysia has been China's largest trading partner among all the members of the Association for Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, for the last three years.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak says the move to settle trade in local currency is really taking off.

"The agreement to settle trade and local currencies is a huge step forward. And, we've noticed that the quantum of trade settled in local currencies has succeeded -- in the first quarter of this year -- more than the whole of 2010."

China and Malaysia also signed an agreement to recognize each others university degrees.

For more on Wen Jiaobao's visit in Indonesia, we are joined on the line now by Zhang Huizhong, Chief correspondent of The People's Daily's Jakarta Bureau.
