2011-08-17来源:CRI

"It's really good, above expectations."

"It's excellent. Some of the stadiums are magnificent, and in addition to the beautiful architecture and spectacular appearance, they offer excellent comfort for both athletes and spectators."

The venues of the 2011 Universiade have not only won praise from athletes and officials, they have also caught the eyes of local residents. Everyday, residents have flocked to the venues to enjoy the fierce competitions, while taking in the impressive architecture.

Inside the sports complexes, professional management has been introduced to maintain the condition of the facilities.

Here is Liu Yongli, venue manager of the Natatorium of the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center.

"The management team of the Natatorium has adopted the same practices used during the Beijing Olympics and the Guangzhou Asian Games."

Such practices ensured the successful operation of venues during the two major international sports meetings, and have so far proved to be efficient at the Shenzhen Universiade.

However, these beautiful and magnificent sporting facilities are not just for the Universiade. Liu Yongli, the venue manager, says the authorities have already drafted a blueprint to ensure the sustainable development of these sporting facilities.

"One of the most important functions of the venue is to facilitate the 'national fitness for all project' once the Universiade event is over. Market practices will be introduced to make full use of the facilities. "

He disclosed that the authorities are planning to bid for national or regional swimming competitions, and even sporting events. Moreover, the venues will be used to host large scale concerts or exhibitions, providing even more entertainment to the local residents. These new city icons are set to become major tourist attractions, which will also boost the level of tourism in the Shenzhen.
