CRI听力:The 17th China International Education Exhibition

2012-03-15来源:CRI

Like it was in the past, America, Canada and Australia are still the popular destinations for many parents and students.

But this year, many students who are mainly the post-90s' generation have got a mind of their own. Zhan Kefu, a high school senior is interested in a Singaporean cooking school.

"What attracts me of the school is that it provides internships with a salary. This means I can make money while doing my internship. This can help ease my family's financial burdens. I also like their curriculum."

This Singaporean school only provides an associate degree, but Zhan Kefu still likes his choice.

The 17th China International Education Exhibition

Zhan Kefu actually did some research. The 2 year study cost more than 120 thousand yuan. But the internship begins 4th month after his entrance. The salary during his internship can be up to 4,000 yuan. For him, this will not only ease his parents' financial burden, but it is also valuable work experience.

Great employment potential is an effective promotion for many schools in this exhibition. At the booth of a Japanese cartoon and digital technology school, many students show great enthusiasm when they learn that the school's first year students have already published their work.

Another highlight of this year's China International Education Exhibition is that some overseas schools have started accepting Chinese student's National Entrance Examination, or "Gaokao", scores as a relevant qualification.

Xu Peiyi is the consulate of education in Australia's Consulate General in Shanghai.

"The Australian government actually did very in-depth research into the Gaokao. We actually released a report to all the Australian universities. It's a standard convention for all Australian institutions. There are already examples of Australian universities accepting the Gaokao, but it is fantastic that the University of Sydney has come out to say that they will accept the Gaokao for all their programs. "

Currently a number of European countries, such as Germany, France and Italy, have accepted Gaokao scores as a compulsory condition for their school application procedures.

Choosing a good major and a good school is a concern for many parents and students. Bai Zhangde, director of the Service Center for Scholarly Exchange says parents can refer to the website of China's Ministry of Education to check the schools qualifications if they are concerned. However, as for the information from some overseas private schools, Bai Zhangde reminds parents to be careful before they make a decision.

The 17th China International Education Exhibition will run from March 10 to 25 in cities like Beijing, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Shanghai, Xi'an, Wuhan and Guangzhou.
