CRI听力:First Chinese Company to Join 'Climate Savers'
As a Climate Saver, Yingli has promised an emission reduction target for a fixed period of time.
By 2015, at least 4-percent of the electricity the company consumes will come from renewable sources, specifically solar.
This target is four times the percentage of renewable energy in China's current energy consumption portfolio.
Xiong Jingfeng is Yingli's Chief Climate Officer.
"Being a Climate Saver means that to meet our goal in reducing emissions, we have to be innovative in management and technology. This is a pressure, but also an incentive."
Yingli is one of the world's largest manufacturers of solar panels and a big player in the photovoltaic, or PV industry.
The company plans to launch a Global Green Solar PV Manufacturing Standard with the WWF by the end of 2015.
The standard is designed to try to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the PV industry.
Donald Pols heads the WWF China's Global Shift Initiative.
"We hope that globally that solar PV companies would follow the lead, and start to using renewable energy in the production of solar PV modules.(In) two years' time when we come back, or three years' time, I hope that there are a number of solar PV companies internationally that does the same."
China is the world's largest energy-producing country.
Under new plans laid out in the government's Energy Policy White Paper, the Chinese government is putting a priority on the development of clean-energy generation.
Shi Lishan is a senior official in charge of renewable energy with China's National Energy Administration.
"Developing renewable energy is a global common view. We, in China, are gradually changing from using fossil fuel to new and renewable energy for a sustainable economy. This is the most significant issue in the energy industry."
China is the world's largest producer of solar panels.
However, around 90-percent of them are produced for sale in other countries.
