CRI听力:Scientific Research Paves the Way for Chinese Dream
More than 20 universities and research institutes are taking part in the 16th China Beijing International High-tech Expo, where a group of aspiring, young scientists and researchers are living their Chinese dream.
Among them are Du Ran and Dr. Wang Heyan from China's National Institute of Metrology. Both are learning and discovering their better self through scientific researches.
Working with his team, Du has come a long way in successfully delivering the products of his latest project, high purity chemical solvents.
"We've had quite some difficulties coming up with the techniques to produce the solvents. We couldn't figure out a time and cost efficient way to do it and it was rough for us. But our team worked together and finally found a most preferable way after a lot of trial and errors."
The three-year-long project offers high purity chemical solvents on a par with the world's highest standards. They can be used in laboratories, biochemistry and agriculture.
Du says it's his dream come true to work on this project, the first of its kind in the industry nationwide.
"There was an industry void in high purity solvents and we wanted to fill it. Now that we have, it's a dream come true for us researchers to push forward China's scientific development. As for me, I gained access to the world's most advanced ideas and equipments and improved my research skills."
Echoing Du's sentiment, Dr. Wang Heyan's team worked for three years on a laser two-coordinate measurement device, which offers standardized, precise measures for manufacturing, aerospace engineering and other fields.
Dr. Wang is looking for better domestically manufactured products and self improvement from his project.
"Well manufactured products come from precise measures. An advanced measurement device guarantees the accuracy and upholds our slogan 'Made in China', which in turn helps our Chinese dream. I have been involved in the whole process of this research project, which took my knowledge in metrology to a higher level."
Both researchers are still pursuing their dreams, hoping their achievements will inspire and help more future projects.
