CRI听力:US Governor Apologizes over Politically Inspired Traffic Jams
In the US, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has apologized in person to the mayor of a community that was the victim of politically inspired traffic jams.
The White House hopeful says Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich has accepted his apology.
Emails and text messages suggest one of Christie's top aides arranged lane closings to punish Fort Lee's mayor for not endorsing the governor for re-election.
Christie says he has fired the aide, deputy chief of staff Bridget Anne Kelly.
"I had no knowledge or involvement in this issue, in its planning or its execution, and I am stunned by the abject stupidity that was shown here. Regardless of what the facts ultimately uncover, this was handled in a callous and indifferent way and it is not the way this administration has conducted itself over the last four years and not the way it will conduct itself over the next four."
Kelly was the latest casualty in a scandal that threatens a second term for Christie and his expected run for president in 2016.
Christie has also cut ties to his campaign manager and adviser earlier.
