CRI听力:Chinese People Prepare for Spring Festival Celebration

2014-02-01来源:CRI

People across China are swarming markets and malls for Spring Festival decorations and treats, and holding activities to add festive atmosphere as the country's most important traditional festival approaches.

A market in Tongling City, east China's Anhui Province, was crowded with customers busy buying couplets, lanterns and Chinese knots to greet the Chinese Lunar New Year, the year of the horse which falls on Jan. 31 this year.

Xu Guangming is a resident in Tongling City.

"I buy lanterns every year and hang them on the balcony, wishing for a good fortune next year."

A residential community in Guiyang, capital city of southwest China's Guizhou Province, has a fair every Wednesday.

The fair has become much more crowded as the Spring Festival draws near.

Meanwhile, train services in various places of China reached full capacity on Saturday, six days before the lunar New Year.

In Lanzhou, capital of northwest China's Gansu Province, train passenger flow was 60 percent more than usual and train tickets heading for major cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou before the Spring Festival have almost been sold out.

In southern China, all trains are on track but still fall short of demand.

Train tickets in major cities over the next few days have almost all been fully booked except those for the New Year's Eve.
