CRI听力:Hurricane Arthur Hits US East Coast
Hurricane Arthur has hit the United States' East Coast causing flooding and disrupting Independence Day celebrations.
The hurricane struck the state of North Carolina as a Category 2 storm with winds of 160 kilometers per hour.
The storm caused power cuts and flooding, and cut off one of the barrier islands from the mainland in North Carolina, before making off to sea.
North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory said there have been no casualties or serious injuries reported.
Holiday home owner May Spruill said she woke up early on Friday morning in seaside Nags Head area when heavy winds began knocking rubbish bins against her house.
"We made out great but I was very afraid. When the wind came through at about 5:30 this morning, it woke me up. It didn't wake my husband up, so I woke him up and I said, 'David next time I say to leave, let's leave' because the wind was really whipping around and it got our trash cans and banged them up against the outside."
Hurricane Arthur is the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.
