CRI听力:Kerry Meets Indian FM in Annual Strategic Talks
The US and India have begun their annual strategic talks this week in New Delhi.
US Secretary of State John Kerry has already sat down for a series of discussions with Indian Foreign Minister Susham Swaraj.
"Our new energy that our meeting today has imparted to partner departments and ministries should lead to determined efforts to ensure that the summit meeting in September between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Obama raises our partnership to a new level."
This is the first high-profile US delegation to visit India since Modi's BJP stormed to victory in the country's election.
Relations between two sides are not at their best.
A bitter spat over the arrest of an Indian diplomat last year, along with disputes over trade and intellectual property rights, have strained bilateral ties.
The Indian side has also been critical of US snooping on Indian officials revealed in the leaks put out by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.
