CRI听力:More Personal Belongings of MH 17 Victims Found
The head of a team of international investigators say more personal belongings of victims of the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 crash have been found.
The comment comes after international experts managed to access the crash site in Eastern Ukraine on Sunday.
Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg is the head of Malaysia Flight 17 Recovery Mission.
"Today a group of 109 people worked in a field north of the village of Rozsypne. The team included 54 Dutch and 34 Australian forensic specialists, 88 in total. They searched for almost six hours in a field containing pieces of wreckage. As a result, we didn't find any human remains in this area, but we did find a lot of personal belongings, like passports, baggage, suitcases and so on."
It has been estimated that up to 80 bodies out of the 298 people on the flight are still at the site.
Aalbersberg says investigators will try to access the site again later today if the security situation will allow for it.
The work of monitors from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has been postponed due due to fighting between the Ukraine army and rebels.
It comes as the Ukrainian army intensifies its battle on the outskirts of Donetsk, the rebel's main stronghold in eastern Ukraine.
The army is also trying to encircle Luhansk, the other main rebel stronghold.
Both Russia and the U.S have called for a ceasefire in the region.
