CRI听力:'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Tops Box Office on Its Opening Day Debut
Paramount's new film 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' has toped the North American box office on its opening day.
Last Friday the movie opened with over 25 million US dollars in North America.
Worldwide, the movie has earned $97 million over the weekend.
The better-than-expected performance has prompted Paramount chief Brad Grey and producer Michael Bay to immediately announce a sequel.
The sequel is set for release in 2016.
The movie stars Megan Fox and Will Arnett.
Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the film tells the story of four outcast brothers who discover their destiny as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, working with a fearless reporter to save New York City from Shredder and his evil Foot Clan.
The two lead actors walked the red carpet last week for the New York premiere of the film.
Fox says she couldn't be happier that she's doing a fun action movie.
"These are the kind of movies that I like to watch, so they're the kind of movies I want to be in because I want to be able to sit in a theater and see what I just did. I did other things"
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is a reboot of the franchise from the 1990's.
It was released in Chinese theaters on August 8th.
