CRI听力:Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Village Opens
The Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Village officially opened Tuesday and delegations are checking in.
It will be the location for cultural and education programs that are compulsory for the youth games.
The village has received nearly half of the 6,000 guests - including athletes, team officials, Young Ambassadors and reporters from 204 countries and regions.
Gilbert Felli, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Director for the Olympic Games shared his opinion on the uniqueness of Youth Olympic Games.
"The Youth Olympic Games is something a bit different from the Olympic Games. Where we have the athletes, we try to give them some information about, so they learn, they share things together. That's why it's important to have a good village with space where people can work together."
The Village will stay open through August 30, two days after the closing ceremony of the Youth Olympics.
During the village's operation period, more than 500 volunteers will be providing healthcare, first aid, and room services around the clock.
