CRI听力:Suarez's Appeal to Be Announced Thursday
The outcome of Uruguay forward Luis Suarez's appeal against his ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini will be announced on Thursday.
Suarez was suspended for nine competitive internationals and from all football-related activity for four months after sinking his teeth into Chiellini in a World Cup group game in June.
After losing an appeal with soccer's governing body, FIFA, the Barcelona forward took his case to the CAS, which conducted a hearing on the matter last Friday.
Suarez has apologized to his colleague Chiellini, despite initially claiming to have lost his balance during the match.
"The truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chiellini suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me. For this: 1. I deeply regret what occurred. 2. I apologize to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family. 3. I vow to the public that there will never again be another incident like this involving me."
But his apology is not convincing to Premier League chief executive Richard Sudamore who calls Suarez "an accident waiting to happen", and also approved the sale of this striker by Liverpool.
